City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in the Transport of Animals by Road

(Short Journeys) (0141-04)

If you are involved in the transportation of animals by road on short journeys (over 65km and up to 8 hours duration) this qualification will ensure you meet the requirement for a Certificate of Competence outlined in the Council Regulation (EC) No1/2005 on the Protection of Animals During Transport and the Welfare of Animals (Transport) Order 2006.

The qualification is species specific (e.g. cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, horses, game birds). It covers the legal requirements, journey planning, vehicle suitability, fitness to travel, causes and signs of stress in animals, space allowances, stocking densities, handling and animal welfare in transit and post journey

requirements.

* Assesments to take place on the Last Friday of the month *

The fee is £103.00 per species and the species are as follows:

Cattle

Sheep

Cattle and sheep (this is classed as on species for those who transport both)

Horses

Game birds

Pigs

Poultry

Entry requirements - candidates taking the Certificate of Competence must be a minimum of 16 years of age, there is no upper age limit

Assessment is in the form of an online multiple choice EVOLVE based test
